    Hi,

I am currently running Server 2022 as a Mulitpoint box. The system has 5 workstations connected, all of which work without issue.

    When I attempt to login remotely, I receive an error;

    Remote Desktop License Issue

There is a problem with your Remote Desktop license, and your session will be disconnected in 60 minutes, Contact your system administrator to to fix this problem.

After 58 minutes, you get a 2 minute warning. After 2 more minutes Remote Desktop is disconnected.

I can log back in with Remote Desktop, get the same error, but am back exactly where I left off before being disconnected. It’s as if I disconnect the session without logging out, leaving the session still running.

    Any help is appreciated.

We have released a new fix for this issue. Please install KB4025334:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4025334/windows-10-update-kb4025334

You can also tải về the patch directly from the Microsoft update catalog:

    ://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=KB4025334

This update adds a new mechanism to correctly configure the RDSH license server. However, you still need to select what type of CALs you will be using, per user or per device. To do this, select the “Manage client access licenses” task

from the trang chủ tab. You will be prompted to choose the Remote Desktop licensing mode. Once you have selected a licensing mode, click OK, and the license mode and license server configuration will be set correctly.

Also, to add new client access licenses, click on the Add client access licenses link (it is just below where you select the licensing mode). This link will take you to the RD Licensing Manager. You will first need to activate the license manager,

then you can add client access licenses.

Make sure you purchase and install client access licenses that are the same type as the licensing mode you have chosen. You can not use a per device client access license on a server configured to user per user client access licenses and vice versa.

Well I wish I had seen this reply earlier. We changed over from WMS 2012 and this error comes up all the time.

Please fix this bug: this should really be taken care of during installation of the role.

I have the same issue and the tải về the bottom does not work. Multipoint shows that the licences are available but when a user signs in, it gives the warning screen.

Tried the Group Policy editor route too and still not working

While the recommended tải về failed for all the reasons mentioned herein, the group policy edit resolved our MANY weeks of headaches for the Mac users of Citrix XenDesktop.

Thanks for finally helping us to make the RDS License change that made the difference.

    Hi,

Found Solution to this issue.. Sounds weird but it worked for me.. i had same issue in Server 2022 Data Center. After installing roles and features of Remote Desktop Services this error started appearing whenever i used to connect the RDP Session.

The Administrative Tools in Control Panel has a thư mục called “Terminal Services” by default even if the server doesnt have Remote Desktop Services Roles & Features installed.

This thư mục was accidentally deleted and since then the RDP Sessions started giving the warning

    “Remote Desktop License Issue”

“There is a problem with your Remote Desktop license, and your session will be disconnected in 60 minutes, Contact your system administrator to to

    fix this problem”

    Solution:

    1. Create an empty thư mục on Desktop and name it as “Terminal Services”

    2. Copy and Paste this thư mục in “Administrative Tools” in “Control Panel”

    3. Restart the server and Connect RDP Session.

    4. Done.

Note: Make sure that “RDP Cals” are installed and Server is activated. Also make sure to assign remote server name in GPEDIT.msc along with defining the RDP Cals used PER DEVICE or PER USER.

    Hello,

    does not work for me!

Have the same problem, looking for days for a solution (Message “Remote Desktop License Issue … will be disconnected in 60 minutes)

In the “Control Panel / Administrative Tools” thư mục there are / are 2 folders:

    – 1) Remote Desktop Services

    – 2) Terminal Services

RDPCals per user are also installed.

    The best part:

The server has a week without a license error message function, this came some point after a reboot. The server is currently running in 120-day trial mode without using any of the installed RDPCals.

    I need a solution …

No Erros in RD Licensing Diagnoser. GPOs are set and working. Already cleaned up MSLicensing Key on the Client Device too. Enough RDS License are available. Even though error is popping up sometimes.

None of the solutions above fixed it for me, so I called Microsoft Support, spent $500 USD and we resolved the issue like this:

    1. Understand config: we have 1 AD domain with 1 license server and 10 joined members.

    2. Understand use case: we were treating all 10 members (Server 2022) like “old school” Terminal Server hosts–i.e., no session hosting or RemoteApp, so users just opened Remote Desktop into each host.

    3. Determine root cause: All 10 of our hosts were configured with the “Remote Desktop Services” role with “Remote Desktop Licensing” checked. That is incorrect!

    4. Apply solution 1/2: uncheck “Remote Desktop Licensing” on ALL servers except the licensing server(s).

    5. Apply solution 2/2: check “Remote Desktop Session Host” on the 10 servers (i.e., non-license servers).

The flow then works like this:

    1. user opens RDP to server

    2. server ROUTES the license check to the license server (instead of itself and failing)

    3. license server replies with a license (i.e., decrements a per user RDS CAL in our case)

Diagram of the resulting, correct flow:

Go to Google.com and type this text, including the double quotes: “Microsoft SAL (RDS SAL) is a service that provides a Microsoft Remote Desktop Service Subscriber Access License”

    Hi,

I’ve tried all the solutions mentioned above, nothing works for me.

Can you please take a look my problems and giving me recommendations?

    1. 5 RDS per User CALs installed successfully on Windows Server 2022 with Open License

    open-license

    2. Remote Desktop Licensing Mode has been assigned as User in gpedit.msc

    Per User License Mode

    3. No problem is shown up RD Licensing Diagnoser

    RD Licensing Diagnoser

    4. Session Time Limits in the gpedit.msc (Set time limit for active but idle RDS) was set to “Never”

    Session Time Limits

    5. Whenever I log on to this server using RDP, a warning message appears saying there is a license issue

    RDP License Issue

After logon 60 minutes, my connection ended forcefully

    remote-session-limit-reached

So, what did I miss? I haven’t configured yet the AD since it cost me a trouble when trying to install it.

    AD Domain Controller

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks beforehand

    🤝

    Cheers,

How many 2022 per-user licenses does the license manager show you have vs how many it shows that are issued?

0 Votes 0 ·

raitdl-9873 avatar imageraitdl-9873 · Sep 29, 2022 06:43 AM

ok, so no licenses were being issued rather than it thought it had already issued too many.

In the Event Log under “Applications and Services Logs Microsoft Windows TerminalServices-LicensingOperational” are there any useful logs in there? We only have sự kiện IDs 4143 issued a per user cal, 4144 upgraded a per user cal from an old version to a newer one, and 4145 a per user cal was renewed.

For “Applications and Services Logs Microsoft Windows TerminalServices-LicensingAdmin” we only have 3 events

The Remote Desktop license server has been registered as a service connection point in Active Directory Domain Services.

The licenses have been successfully installed onto the Remote Desktop license server.

The computer account for this Remote Desktop license server or Network Service account has been added to the Terminal Server License Servers group in Active Directory Domain Services.

In admin events log, there is an 85 error saying

‘The Remote Desktop license server could not be registered as a service connection point in Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS). Ensure that there is network connectivity between the license server and AD DS. To register the license server as a service connection point in AD DS, use Review Configuration in the RD Licensing Manager tool.’

So, i asume that is mandatory to have a domain, what is exactly that i did to solve issue.

Thanks.

Thanks for answering.
There were 10 vs 0. No license was issue.

But, you have to know that, because of the urgence, i had to create a domain. Everything went right and now is working.

Though, i’d like to know which was the problem.
Regards,
