1.1. Tính từ là gì?
Tính từ (adjective, viết tắt là adj) là có vai trò quan trọng trong câu, giúp tương hỗ cho danh từ hoặc đại từ, nó diễn tả những đặc tính, tính chất của sự việc vật, hiện tượng kỳ lạ mà danh từ đó đại diện.
1.2. Vị trí
Vị trí trước danh từ: Tính từ đứng trước danh từ để tương hỗ update nghĩa cho danh từ đó.
Ví dụ: I have taken part in an interesting English course. (Tôi đã tham gia một khóa học tiếng Anh thú vị)
→ Từ “interesting” ở đây là tính từ diễn tả tính chất cho khoá học tiếng Anh. Người viết muốn nhấn mạnh vấn đề để người đọc làm rõ hơn về sự vật mà người ta nói đến.
Sau động từ liên kế: Tổng hợp những động từ liên kế trong tiếng Anh
- Tobe: thì, là
Seem: có vẻ như, như thể
Appear: có vẻ như, xuất hiện như thể
Feel: cảm thấy
Taste: nếm có vị
Look: thấy, trong có vẻ như
Sound: nghe có vẻ như
Smell: ngửi, cảm thấy có mùi

1.3. Cấu tạo của tính từ ghép trong tiếng Anh
Danh từ + Tính từ = Tính từ
Ví dụ: Snow + white = snow white (trắng bạch như tuyết )
Phó từ + phân từ = Tính từ
Ví dụ: Well + done = Well-done (làm tốt lắm)
Tính từ + phân từ = Tính từ
Ví dụ: Low + paid = Low-paid (được trả tiền thấp)
1.4. Dấu hiệu nhận ra tính từ trong tiếng Anh
a) Vị trí trước danh từ.Ví dụ
- Black Vietnamese leather riding boots (Đôi bốt màu đen xuất xứ từ Việt làm bằng da dùng để cưỡi ngựa)
She is a famous business woman (Cô ấy là một nữ người marketing thương mại nổi tiếng)

Những động từ chỉ cảm xúc mà tất cả chúng ta thường gặp: feel, look, sound, become, get, smell, turn, seem, hear. Ví dụ
- As the movie went on, it became more and more exciting (Phim càng về sau càng mê hoặc)
Your friend seems very nice (Bạn của bạn có vẻ như rất tốt)
Các đại từ bất định thường gặp: something, someone, anything, anyone, everyone, everybody, everything, nobody, nothing. Ví dụ
