More and more games these days require physical truyền thông only during the installation process, even on consoles. But this graphical overhaul of 2007’s much-celebrated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will require a disc even though the trò chơi itself is a digital tải về, activated with a trò chơi key included in certain special editions of Infinite Warfare.

To be clear, those who purchase a digital special edition of Infinite Warfare don’t have this restriction. You’ll be downloading both games, so it’s clear that there’s nothing intrinsic to Modern Warfare Remastered that requires a physical trò chơi disc. Instead, this appears to be a safeguard against customers who buy a physical copy, activate their Modern Warfare key, and then try to return/trade in/resell their Infinite Warfare trò chơi disc.
This is a major bummer because, as we’ve reported previously, buying a special edition of Infinite Warfare is the only way to buy Modern Warfare Remastered. It’s not available a la carte. And though publisher Activision is within its right to prevent players from just skimming a tải về key and then hocking the rest of their purchase, it certainly doesn’t endear Activision to customers, who are already incensed about the whole exclusivity thing.
Will Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered be available as a standalone purchase some future point? Perhaps, but for this holiday season least, Activision is taking steps to ensure anyone enjoying classic COD is playing Space COD as well.

Answer: Retail versions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Legacy and Legacy Pro Editions, which include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, contain one trò chơi disc. On PlayStation 4, these editions also include an insert with a code to unlock and play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. On Xbox One and PC, a code is not required to unlock Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.
Even though there is not a separate trò chơi disc, in order to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, you must have Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare installed and use the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare trò chơi disc. If you uninstall Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, you will not be able to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.
After launching Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, you will be able to choose either trò chơi from the opening menu.
Please note: The unlock code for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered on PlayStation 4 can only be used once. Players who purchase pre-owned copies of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will not be able to access Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered if the unlock code is missing or has already been used.
If you got Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered along with your copy of Infinite Warfare, make sure you don’t get rid of your disc.
Activision has finally released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered as a standalone product earlier this week, but that doesn’t mean you can get rid of your Infinite Warfare disc, or even uninstall the trò chơi.
Players found that they weren’t able to play Modern Warfare Remastered without Infinite Warfare installed, and Activision has confirmed that if you purchased a special edition of Infinity Ward’s latest entry into the series that included the remaster, you must have Infinite Warfare installed and the disc in the console to play Modern Warfare Remastered.
The same goes for the digital versions: you need to have both games installed for Modern Warfare Remastered to work.
This may change down the road, but for now, you’re stuck with having Infinite Warfare on your hard drive.
